Peace and Security Dialogue: Peacemaking and Conflict Management in the Taiwan Strait
June 15–18, 2025

On June 16, 2025, the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies co-hosted a high-level workshop in Taipei with the Foreign Relations Association (FRA) of Taiwan. Titled “Peace and Security Dialogue: Peacemaking and Conflict Management in the Taiwan Strait,” the closed-door meeting brought together distinguished participants, including former Vice President Annette Lu as keynote speaker, former Foreign Minister David Lin, and several former deputy ministers, ambassadors and leading scholars.

Following the workshop, participants engaged in two days of intensive meetings and site visits in Taipei. These included in-depth discussions with former Premier Jiang Yi-huah, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, and former National Security Advisor Su Chi, along with visits to the KMT headquarters, leading universities, and prominent policy think tanks.

The workshop and subsequent meetings provided timely insights into the challenges of polarization and identity shifts in Taiwan, while also reinforcing the importance of continued dialogue and research on peacemaking and conflict management in the Taiwan Strait.
